Rare Early Adjustable Vellum Racket

A unique and remarkable piece, this early racket has a single piece of vellum suspended in the head by an oval wire threaded through small eye screws attached to the wood frame. The tautness of the vellum can then be adjusted by the screws. Hand-printed on the vellum is the inventor's name, H.Newman of England, along with a Patent Applied for number and date of 22 October 1901. An extremely rare racket.
